Chinese export tortoiseshell snuff box, c. 1780. The lid of the box, containing a finely painted study of a girl wearing 18th Century dress, and holding a bird in a cage. This is painted in famille rose style, with the girl seated beneath a drape, and before an urn in a window.
Housed beneath an original bevelled glass plate.
The oval snuff box having a silver hinge.
Width – 9 cm, 3 1/2”.
Depth – 7 cm, 2 3/4”.
Height – 2 cm, 3/4”.
Condition – Some wear to the flesh tones.
