Imari porcelain bowl, Arita, Japan, early 18th Century, Edo Period.

Japanese Imari porcelain bowl, Arita, c. 1700, Edo Period. Hand painted to the interior with a dragon chasing a flaming pearl, a phoenix, and a kidney shaped panel, containing a flowering plant, before a scroll. All against a ground of various textile motif.
The exterior with further panels of flowering plants, and scrolls, between phoenix, on a broken ground of textile decoration, above a continuous lappet motif.

Diameter – 24.5 cm,9 3/4”.

Height – 10.5 cm, 4 2/8”.

Condition – Very minor wear to the overglaze enamel. No damage. No restoration.
