A fine Imari porcelain bowl and cover, Arita, Japan, c. 1700, Genroku Period. The deep sided bowl, hand painted in Imari style, with a continuous band of flowering plants, above the footrim painted with an underglaze blue whorl motif.
The interior with stylised flowerheads, and floral scroll, around a central chrysanthemum head.
Having a lightly domed cover, similarly decorated, both externally and internally.
Both pieces bear a clove like device, within concentric circles.
Height – 17.5 cm, 6 7/8”.
Diameter – 21.8 cm, 8 5/8”.
Condition – Chip to rim of cover. Some typical wear to the gilding. No restoration.
