A fine and rare set of malachite and gilt metal postal scales, Halstaff and Hannaford, 228, Regent Street, London, c. 1850. The Gothic form scales, set upon an oval base, of solid malachite, with gilt metal mounts.
Original set of graduated, gilded brass weights.
Engraved retailers mark ‘HALSTAFF & HANNAFORD, 228, Regent St., LONDON’.
Length – 20.5 cm, 8 1/8”.
Height – 17.8 cm, 7”.
Depth – 14.5 cm, 5 3/4”.
Condition – Minor wear to the gilding. No damage. No repair.
