Masons Ironstone ‘Mazarine Blue’ tureen, cover and stand, c. 1815. The octagonal shaped tureen, painted with butterflies amongst gilt plants, on a deep cobalt blue ground, and having twin gilt dragon handles. Having a similarly decorated cover, surmounted by a gilt Lion Dog finial.
The stand decorated en suite.
Width of tureen, over handles – 23 cm, 9 1/8”.
Depth – 16 cm, 6 1/4”.
Height, including cover – 16 cm, 6 1/4”.
Width of stand – 20.3 cm, 8”.
Condition – Some wear to the underglaze blue on the stand, where the foot of the tureen sits. No damage. No restoration.
