Meissen porcelain cabinet cup & saucer, c. 1840.

Meissen porcelain – a fine cabinet cup and saucer, c. 1840. The cup, set upon three gilt paw feet, and having an elaborate gilt handle, in the form of a serpent grasping a ring terminal, whilst rising from acanthus leaf decorated moulding.
Beautifully hand painted with a scene of a recumbent dog, before an arched door, amongst rocks. The interior of the cup gilded.
Set upon a deep saucer, centered by a gilt rosette, surrounded by a gilt wreath.

Underglaze blue Crossed Swords marks to the underside of both items.

Height of cup – 7.3 cm, 2 7/8”.
Diameter – 6.1 cm, 2 3/8”.

Diameter of saucer – 13.6 cm, 5 3/8”.

Condition – Excellent. No damage. No restoration.
