Meissen porcelain figure ‘Der Jongleur’, 1976. This wonderfully conceived figure, modelled by Peter Strang, as a clown juggler, dressed as Harlequin, juggling five Meissen ‘Onion pattern’ plates. He is seated upon an architectural column, sprigged with flowers, with balls and clubs scattered around.
Set upon an octagonal base, edged with moulded gilt tassels.
Underglaze blue Crossed Swords mark to the reverse.
Incised model number ‘60460’, and date code for 1976 to the base.
This figure was only made for one year, in 1976.
