Pair of Chinese ‘Imari’ porcelain candlesticks, c. 1720, Kangxi Period. Modelled after a European silver or brass original, both candlesticks rise from a squared, and stepped, octagonal base, terminating in square sconces. Hand painted in the ‘Chinese Imari’ taste of underglaze blue, and overglaze iron red enamel, with flowering plants, whilst the bases display a cell diaper motif.
Height – 19.5 cm, 7 3/4” (Approximately).
Width – 10.7 cm, 4 1/4”.
Depth – 10.7 cm, 4 1/4”.
Condition – Repair to one stem. Typical, minor glaze fritting to the rims.
