Staffordshire cow spill vase ‘Milk Sold Here’, c. 1860.
Staffordshire pottery spill vase, ‘Milk Sold Here’, c. 1860. The much larger than usual pottery spill vase, modelled as a large cow, painted with red spots, and having a moulded, gilt chain, stood before a tree, forming the spill vase. A thistle grows beneath the cow.
The oval base is moulded and inscribed ‘MILK SOLD HERE’.
Length – 35 cm, 13 3/4”.
Height – 35 cm, 13 3/4”.
Depth – 10 cm, 4”.
Condition: Repair to spill vase. Otherwise excellent condition.
