A finely potted William Reid, of Liverpool, porcelain mug, c.1756 – 1760. The bellied form mug, set upon a ‘Scotia’ foot, and having a scrolled handle, with a spur like thumb piece.
Hand painted in the Chinese Imari style, of underglaze blue, overglaze iron red, and gilt, with flowering plants emerging amongst rockwork, and around a fence.
The handle painted with a feather like leaf.
All under a bluey grey glaze.
Height – 12.4 cm, 4 7/8”.
Width – 13.5 cm, 5 1/4”.
Depth – 10.1 cm, 4”.
Condition – Some typical, minor wear to the overglaze red enamel. Excellent condition. No damage. No restoration.
