Staffordshire pottery bocage group, ‘Abraham offering up Isaac’, c. 1830.Modelled as Abraham holding up a dagger, as he prepares to sacrifice his son Isaac on an altar, whilst a lamb grazes beneath Isaac.
All before a bocage of large leaves, and set upon a deep scroll moulded base.
Coloured in typical enamels, beneath a pearlware glaze.
Titled ‘GENESIS CHAP 22’ ‘ABRAHAM OFFERING UP ISAAC’ in indented capitals.
Height – 27.5 cm, 10 7/8”.
Width – 19 cm, 7 1/2”.
Depth – 11.3 cm, 4 3/8”.
Condition – Repair to right hand and dagger. Typical wear to the glaze.
