A very unusual, and large Austrian terracotta figure of a Chimapanzee, c. 1890. Magnificently modelled as a seated Chimpanzee, his hair realistically delineated, and he has glass eyes. He holds a floral decorated ball in his left hand.
Height – 51 cm, 20 1/8”.
Width – 42.5 cm, 16 3/4”.
Depth – 36 cm, 14 1/8”.
Condition – Excellent. No damage. No restoration.
The figure has later applied fabric pads to the base.
