An exceptionally fine Black Forest carved study of an eagle, Brienz, Switzerland, c. 1900. Carved from walnut, the eagle, stands with his talons gripping the rocks, upon which he is perched, scanning the scene before him, for his prey. His plumage is beautifully delineated, with particular care taken with the carving of his head feathers.
Set upon a canted rectangular base.
Height – 27 cm, 10 5/8”.
Width – 15.5 cm, 6 1/8”.
Depth – 11.7 cm, 4 1/2”.
Condition – Excellent. No damage. No repair.
