A rare and unusual Bow porcelain large mug, of ‘Scratch R’ class, c. 1750-1752. The slightly waisted mug of distinct ovoid form, well painted in Chinese famille rose enamel style, with flowering plants, emerging from behind a rock. The rim painted with a green cell diaper motif, alternating with panels of flowerheads.
Having a grooved loop handle.
Incised or ‘scratched’ lines to the underside of the mug.
Height – 12 cm, 4 3/4”.
Width (Handle to rim) – 13 cm, 5 1/8”.
Depth – 9 cm, 3 1/2”.
