Chelsea porcelain Hunting group, c. 1760.
A fine and rare Chelsea porcelain Hunting group, c. 1760. Modelled as a large wolf, being attacked by two hounds, upon a floral strewn grassy mound. The whole set upon a substantial rococo scroll base, heightened in gilt.
The detail of the animals, carefully picked out in enamels.
Gold Anchor mark to one scroll foot.
Height – 18 cm, 7 1/8”.
Width – 16 cm, 6 1/4”.
Depth – 12.5 cm, 4 7/8”.
Condition – I suspect that the group would have originally had a higher bocage, or a sconce. Repairs to the wolfs ears and tail. Tip of brown spotted dogs ear, and leaves.
