Chinese ‘Kraak’ Porcelain Charger, Wanli Period ‘1573-1619’

A large Chinese porcelain ‘Kraak’ charger, Wanli Period (1573-1619) Late Ming. Painted in underglaze blue, to the centre, with a panel of birds perched on rocks, amongst flowering plants, whilst two further bird fly above. Surrounded by a border of key fret motif. The broad border, painted with radiating panels of stylised flowering plants, and Buddhistic symbols, within a moulded rim.

Diameter – 48.5 cm, 19”.

Condition – Crack to rim – 10.5 cm in length. Fritting to rim. No restoration.
