Rare Chinese porcelain ‘Madame de Pompadour’ teabowl and saucer, c. 1745, Qianlong Period. The saucer painted in famille rose enamels, with flowerheads, and lotus seed pods, surrounding scroll cartouches, enclosing fish. The teabowl, similarly decorated, and having a flowerhead to the interior.
All within chocolate brown rims.
Iron red petal mark to the underside of the teabowl.
Diameter of saucer – 13.5 cm, 5 1/4”.
Height of teabowl – 5.5 cm, 2 2/4”.
Diameter – 9 cm, 3 1/2”.
Condition – Minute chip to reverse of saucer, typical firing faults – please see images for detail. No restoration.
