Chinese porcelain dish, c. 1850, Qing Dynasty. The dish exuberantly painted in vivid famille rose enamels, with a central roundel, containing a butterfly flying above a profusion of flowering plants, on a gilt ground.
Having a border of beautifully painted butterflies, upon an iron red ground, heightened with gilding, within an outer border of stylised flower heads.
Diameter – 24 cm, 9 1/2”.
Medium: Porcelain
Condition: Typical minor age related wear to the enamel and the gilding. No restoration.
