Chinese porcelain ‘Fitzhugh’ pattern plate, c. 1790. Hand painted in underglaze blue, with Buddhistic emblems, amongst flowering plants, around a central floral roundel. A chevron motif painted to the rim.

Diameter – 24.5 cm, 9 5/8”.

Condition – Excellent. No damage. No restoration.

Thomas Fitzhugh ordered a service of this pattern, whilst he served as a director of the British East India Company between 1786 and 1800 in Guangzhou (Canton).
