Derby porcelain botanical dish, William ‘Quaker Pegg’, c. 1815.

£380.00

Derby porcelain botanical dish, c. 1815. The kidney shaped dish, probably painted by William ‘Quacker’ Pegg, with a titled study of ‘Purple Brompton Stock’.
The border finely gilded with Classical urns, amongst scrolling foliage, and between acanthus leaf motif.

Titled in iron red ‘Purple Brompton Stock’, crossed red batons, and crowned ‘D’ mark.

Width – 25.5 cm, 10”.

Height – 20.5 cm, 8 1/8”.

Condition – Minor wear to the gilding, commensurate with its age. No damage. No restoration.

I believe that the scripted title is in the hand of William ‘Quacker’ Pegg. It compares favourably with known examples.
