Derby porcelain ‘Nodding’ figure of Frölich, c. 1840.

A rare Derby porcelain ‘Nodding’ figure, c. 1840. Modelled after the Meissen original, as ‘Joseph Frölich’, stood, with his thumbs in his braces.
His detachable head, with a brass counterweight, to enable the head to ‘nod’.

Incised model number ‘No. 22’ to the base.

Height – 18 cm, 7 1/8”.

Width – 10 cm, 3 7/8”.

Depth – 6.5 cm, 2 1/2”.

Condition: Minor wear to the enamels and gilt - commensurate with the age of the figure.
