English pearlware plate of Political interest, dated 1827. Probably Whitehaven pottery, and made to commemorate the campaign in support of the election of Sir Wilfred Lawson, 1st Baronet of Brayton, as the Whig candidate for Carlisle, in 1827.
Printed in blue, with ‘LAWSON AND INDEPENDENCE, 1827’, within a laurel wreath.

Diameter – 22 cm, 8 5/8”

Condition – Three small chips to the reverse of the plate. No restoration.
