A large French porcelain cache pot and stand, c. 1850. The huge pot, with elaborate rococo scroll moulding and twin handles, beautifully hand painted to the front, with a large spray of flowers. The reverse, painted with a scene of lovers, seated before a a fountain.
The panels divided by dense gilt floral scroll, on the white ground.
Set upon a rococo scroll base, painted with two further panels of flowers.
Intriguingly moulded and gilded with mice and gecko, to frame the panels of flowers.
The images do not do justice to the scale of this item. It is a wonderful centrepiece.
Height – 36 cm, 14 1/8”.
Width – 43.5 cm, 17”.
