Japanese Arita porcelain barbers bowl, c. 1700, Genroku Period. Well painted in Imari colours, with an exuberant display of flowering plants, in a jardiniere, on a terrace. The border with shaped panels contains birds, divided by stylised flower heads on a blue ground.
The reverse with sprigs of cherry blossom, around an unglazed foot rim, and pierced for suspension.
Diameter – 25.5 cm, 10”.
Depth – 7 cm, 2 3/4”.
Condition – Small chip to the rim at 7 o’clock. No restoration.
