A good, large Japanese Imari porcelain charger, Arita, late 17th Century, Genroku Period. Painted in typical Imari palette, with a broad band of flowering plants, around a central medallion, containing a single flower.
The outer border with sprays of chrysanthemum, divided by stylised flowerhead motif panels.
The reverse with four spur marks, within an unglazed foot rim.
Diameter – 38 cm, 15”.
Depth – 7 cm, 2 3/4”.
Condition: Typical minor wear to the enamel. No damage. No restoration.
