Japanese cloisonné koro & cover. c. 1890. Meiji Period.
An unusual Japanese cloisonné koro and cover, Meiji Period. The rectangular shaped koro, unusually painted to either side, with enamel panels of figures in garden settings, in Satsuma pottery style; further roundels to either end, painted in similar taste.
The black ground, with a dense whorl motif, and decorated with flowerheads, and roundels of stylised flowers.
Having a similar decorated rectangular cover, surmounted by a bud finial.

Condition: Excellent. No damage. No repair.
