Japanese Fukugawa Vase, Painted with Carp, circa 1890, Meiji Period

Japanese porcelain vase, Fukugawa, circa 1890, Meiji Period. Hand painted with a pair if carp swimming through a flowing river. The reverse with a carp leaping from the water, beneath a continuous lappet border, decorated in Imari colours, and heightened in gilt. The sides applied with two moulded and gilded ring handles.
Underglaze blue mark to the base.

Measures: Height – 21 cm, 8 1/4”.
Width – 17 cm, 6 3/4”.

Condition – Minor wear to the gilding. No damage. No restoration.
