Japanese Imari dish, Arita, c. 1700, Genroku Period. The circular dish, hand painted in Imari colours, with a central panel, containing a large jardiniere of flowering plants, on a terrace.
The border with shaped panels of flowering plants, divided by stylised plants, on an underglaze cobalt blue ground.
The reverse painted with a continuous band of sprigs of flowering branches.
Spur marks to the reverse.
Diameter – 26.6 cm, 10 3/8”.
Height – 3.5 cm, 1 3/8”.
Condition – Typical minor wear to the gilding. No damage. No restoration.
