Japanese Imari large porcelain stand, c. 1890. Meiji Period.
An unusual Japanese Imari porcelain stand, Arita, c. 1890. Meiji Period. The large bowl, painted with a roundel, containing a coiled dragon, within a continuous band of stylised flowers heads. The rim with a broad band of panels containing peaches, cranes and flowering plants. The exterior, similarly decorated.
Set upon a tall, splayed conical foot, repeating the decoration found on the bowl.
Medium: Porcelain.
Height: 26.5 cm, 10 3/8”.
Width: 27.5 cm, 10 3/4”.
Condition: Excellent. No damage. No restoration.
