Japanese ‘Imari’ Porcelain Bowl, Arita, circa 1700, Genroku Period

A fine Japanese porcelain bowl, Arita, late 17th-early 18th century. Beautifully painted in ‘Imari’ style, with a continuous scene of flowering plants growing amongst rocks, in underglaze blue, green, yellow, iron red, and heightened in gilt; above a narrow band of meandering floral scroll.
The interior, with a circular panel, containing a further flowering plant, beneath a border of flower heads and alternating panels of floral scroll, and gilt chevron, upon an underglaze blue ground.

Measures: Diameter – 14 cm, 5 1/2”.
Height – 6.7 cm, 2 5/8”.

Condition – Very minor typical wear to the gilding. No damage. No restoration.
