Japanese Imari porcelain ‘Dutchmen’ bowl, Meiji Period. Hand painted to the interior, with four panels of Dutch traders in 17th Century costume, upon underglaze blue grounds. The panels separated by a ground of a repeating textile motif, painted in Kenjo Imari style, around a central medallion painted with a Kirin. The exterior, painted with roundels, containing Hotei with his sack, between elaborate stylised floral scroll, and above a continuous band of underglaze blue lappet.
