Imari porcelain vase and cover, Japan, c.1890, Meiji Period. The jar well painted with a continuous scene of flowering plants, amongst a bamboo fence, in typical Imari colours. The foot painted in underglaze blue, with a band of stylised flowering scroll.
The domed cover, similarly decorated, and surmounted with a gilt tear drop finial.
Iron red koro mark to the base.
Height – 31.5 cm, 12 3/8”.
Diameter – 19 cm, 7 1/2”.
Condition – Typical minor wear to the gilt. No damage. No restoration.
