Japanese Imari shallow bowl, Arita, c. 1890, Meiji Period. The oval bowl, with fluted moulding, and densely decorated with radiating panels of stylised flower heads, in typical colourings, and heightened in gilt. Having a central panel of a floweting plant in underglaze blue.
The exterior similarly decorated, and set upon a low foot rim.
Curvisive script Fuku mark in underglaze blue to the base.
Width – 28.5 cm, 11 1/8”.
Depth – 19.5 cm, 7 5/8”.
Height – 6.5 cm, 2 1/2”.
Condition – Typical minor wear to the gilt. No damage. No restoration.
