Japanese red lacquer (tsuishu) Shishi dog netsuke, early 19th century, Edo Period. The finely detailed dog, clambering over a rock, and set upon a stepped and shaped oval base. The himotoshi formed through the rock, and the base.

Measures: Height – 3.5 cm, 1 3/8”.
Width – 3 cm, 1 1/4”.
Depth – 2.4 cm, 1”.

Condition – Excellent. No damage. No repairs.
