Japanese silvered bronze Sea Eagle okimono, Genryusai Seiya. Meiji Period.
A fine Japanese silvered bronze okimono of a Sea Eagle, Genryusai Seiya, Meiji Period. Beautifully modelled, readying himself to attack his prey, with an alert expression and his wings slightly raised. His body and feathers silvered, whilst his eyes and beak, are detailed in gilt and shakudo. The legs are gilded, terminating in sharp talons, highlighted in shakudo.
The stand is formed in bronze, as a large branch of a prunus tree, naturistically rendered, with silvered cherry blossom, centred in gilt. Two pins on the eagles feet, attach the eagle to the branch.
Signed Genryusai Seiya to a gilt seal, beneath the eagle.
