A fine and substantial Fujii Yoshitoyo Damascene Company necessiare, Japan, c. 1910, Meiji Period. Beautifully worked in Komai style, with damascened decoration of birds amongst dense foliage. The reverse with two sinuous dragons amongst swirling clouds. The edges with textile motifs.
One side opening to reveal a series of doors, the top one containing holders for sovereigns, whilst the others are designed to hold other items that you may require. The other side of the open case, holds a note for reminders, which can be jotted down using the pencil, which has its own compartment to the side of the case.
The doors are damascened to create a scene of fish swimming beneath hanging wisteria.
Turning over the case enables you to open it to reveal compartments to hold cigars.
Fuji Yoshitoyo inlaid mark to the case.
Height – 9 cm, 3 1/2”.
Width -7.5 cm, 2 3/4”.
Depth – 2 cm, 3/4”.
Condition – Excellent. No damage. No repairs.
