Kutani porcelain Bijin of large size, Japan c. 1900, Meiji Period. The Bijin, wears beautifully decorated traditional costume, the obi particularly well painted with phoenix on a gilt ground.
Her hair held in place with a complex arrangement of combs, and implements.
