Leeds creamware teapot, Margaret Burton 1773.

A fine Leeds creamware teapot, dated 1773. Probably decorated at the David Rhodes workshop, with the inscription ‘Margaret Burton 1773’ within an iron red and black enamel laurel wreath. The reverse with a ‘When this you see…’ rhyme, within a further wreath.
Having a beaded rim, moulded leaf scroll to the base of the spout, and a grooved loop handle.
The cover similarly painted, inside a beaded rim, and having a pierced button finial.

Height – 14 cm, 5 1/2”.

Width (Handle to spout)- 21.5 cm, 8 1/2”.

Depth – 13 cm, 5 1/8”.

Condition – Repair to tip of spout, and to chips to the rim of the cover. Slight wear to the enamel.
