Mamluk revival brass Quran casket, Damascus, c. 1900. Inlaid in silver and copper, with Quranic inscriptions, in thuluth and kufic script, amongst elaborate floral scroll, to both the casket and the lid. The panels divided by mounted strapwork, held with copper headed pins. Raised upon four circular flattened feet.
Having a marquetry interior, inlaid in shell and bone.

Depth – 19.5 cm, 7 3/4”.
Height – 17 cm, 6 3/4”.
Condition – Excellent. No damage. No repair.
