Masons Ironstone small Hydra jug, c. 1815. The hexagonal jug vibrantly decorated in the Imari style, with the ‘School House’ pattern, within a gilt panel. The reverse with a panel of flowering plants. Both panels on an underglaze cobalt blue ground, decorated with further flowering plants.
Having hydra handle, terminating in a gilt head.
The base unglazed.

Impressed factory mark to the base.

Height – 9.5 cm, 3 3/4”.

Width – 10.5 cm, 4 1/8”.

Depth – 6 cm, 2 3/8”.

Condition – Typical minor wear to the gilding, and overglaze enamels. No damage. No restoration.
