Meissen porcelain group of gardeners, after M.V.Acier and J.C.Schonheit, c. 1870. Finely modelled as a group of figures, dressed in 18th Century costume, and carrying out their various duties in the garden.
Their details, and attire beautifully hand painted.
Set around a large tree stump, and upon a circular mound base, above a continuous moulded band of interlocking circles, divided by leaves, and heightened in gilt.
Underglaze blue crossed swords mark, and indistinct incised model number, which will be D97.
Height – 32 cm, 12 5/8”.
Diameter – 19.6 cm, 7 5/8”.
Condition – Repair to end of the hoe, and to chips to flowers. Even so, in overall excellent condition, with no significant restoration.
