Meissen porcelain cup and saucer, c. 1740. Both the cup and the saucer, finely moulded in blind relief, with scrollwork panels. The panels painted in enamels, with scenes of courting couples in 18th Century attire, in the countryside; one couple drinking wine. Further panels enclosing sprays of flowers.
Gilt rims to both items, and the cup having an elaborate scroll handle.

Underglaze blue crossed swords mark to both items.

Diameter of saucer – 13.7 cm, 5 3/8”.

Height of cup – 7 cm, 2 3/4”.

Condition – Typical age related wear minor wear to the enamels. No damage. No restoration.
