Meissen porcelain figure group, ‘Drunken Silenus and Bacchus’ c. 1870. Finely modelled as Silenus astride a donkey, being supported by Bacchus. A recumbent female attendant takes a bunch of grapes from a basket at her side, whilst a Putti pulls the tail of the baying donkey.
Set upon a shaped grassy mound base, moulded with gilt embellished rocaille.
Blue crossed swords mark, and incised model number to the underside.
Height – 22 cm, 8 5/8”.
Length – 20 cm, 8 1/8”.
Depth – 11 cm, 4 1/4”.
Condition – Typical repair to minor chips. Excellent condition.
