Meissen topographical cream jug, ‘Pillnitz’, c. 1860.

Meissen porcelain topographical cream jug, c. 1860. Finely hand painted with a titled view of Pillnitz Castle, Dresden, from the river, within a quatrefoil gilt scroll cartouche, on a cobalt blue ground. The reverse with a panel of flowers and insects.
Set upon three branch feet, and having a branch handle, heightened in gilt.
The interior rim, with gilt spitzen.

Titled ‘Pillnitz’, in gilt script.

Provenance – Chatsworth House, Derbyshire. Lot 775, Sothebys, 5th October, 2010.

Height – 11.5 cm, 4 1/2”.

Width (Handle to spout)- 11.5 cm, 4 1/2”.

Condition – Excellent. No damage. No restoration.
