Napoleon, Sevres style ormolu mounted pot pourri, c. 1870.

Sevres style ormolu mounted porcelain pot pourri and cover, c. 1870. The cobalt blue porcelain, gilded to the front with the cipher of Napoleon Bonaparte, within a laurel wreath. The reverse with The French Imperial Eagle, within wreaths.

Set with ormolu mounts of high quality, with twin snake handles, their heads terminating at the pierced gallery to the top rim of the pot pourri. Their tails above an ormolu pedestal foot.

The domed cover, gilded with elaborate scrollwork, and surmounted by a gilt bronze Imperial Eagle.

Iron red ‘Sevres’ mark to the base.

Height – 33 cm, 13”.

Width – 35 cm, 13 3/4”.

Depth – 23 cm, 9 1/8”.

Condition – Excellent. No damage. No restoration.
