Pair Chinese porcelain elephant joss stick holders, c. 1850.
A fine pair of Chinese porcelain elephant joss stick holders, c. 1850. Both caparisoned elephants having iron red bodies, highlighted in gilt. The drapes well decorated in famille rose enamels with flowering plants weaving through a gilt trellis. A further drape painted with floral scroll beneath the sconces, which are painted with further floral scroll, upon a gilt ground. The drapes attached with straps, painted with a continuous band of bamboo, on a green ground.
Having gilt ears and tails.

Condition: Very minor wear to the gilding. No damage. No restoration.
