Pair of large Fukugawa porcelain vases, c. 1925, Taisho Period. Both pear shaped vases, decorated with carp swimming in rivers. The reverses of which are painted with irises growing along the riverbank, heightened in gilt. Enamelled with brocade roundels to the neck, above large butterfly handles.
Printed Dai Nippon Arita Fukugawa Sei and Nishikde Wara marks to the bases.
Height – 38 cm, 15”.
Diameter – 23 cm, 9 1/8”.
Condition – Minor wear to the gilding. No damage. No restoration.
