Pair Imari porcelain tripod bowls, Arita, Japan, c. 1700.

A rare pair of Japanese Imari porcelain tripod bowls, Arita, c. 1700, Genroku Period. Each bowl, set upon three mask feet, and painted with a continuous band of lappets containing stylised flowerheads, in the Imari style.
The interiors similarly decorated, within broad everted rims, heightened in gilt with scrollwork, and sprigs of flowering trees to the underside.

Diameter – 15.7 cm, 6 1/8”.

Height – 8 cm, 3 1/8”.

Condition – Slight wear to the gilt, commensurate with the age of the bowls. Some crazing to the glaze, and a firing fault to one footrim. No damage. No restoration.
