Pair of Chinese Porcelain ‘Rouge de Fer’ Vases, c. 1700. Kangxi.
A fine pair of Chinese porcelain vases, c. 1700.Kangxi Period. Both vases decorated in ‘rouge de fer’ with pavilions, bridges and trees, amongst mountainous river landscapes. The scenes enclosed within scrolled panels, upon an underglaze blue scale ground, circa 1920s.
Both necks with a continuous band of Ruyi head, iron red and gilt, beneath the underglaze blue banded and gilt rims.
Concentric circles in underglaze blue, within the unglazed foot rims.
Measures: Height 27 cm, 10 5/8”.
Diameter 10.5 cm, 4 1/8”.
Condition: Repair to hairline crack to one rim, and ‘V’ section to the other rim. Firing glaze blister towards the foot of one vase. Typical minor wear to the gilding. Please see images for detail.
