Pair of Meissen porcelain Shepherds, circa 1870
A fine and large pair of Meissen porcelain figures, circa 1870. Beautifully modelled as a shepherd and a shepherdess, with sheep and his dog, and dressed in 18th century costume. Both figures standing before tree stumps, upon grassy mound bases, moulded with elaborate gilded scrolls.
Underglaze blue crossed swords marks to both figures, along with incised and impressed model numbers.
Measures: Height 29.5 cm, 11 5/8” and 28 cm, 11”.
Condition: Typical minor repair to chips to extremities. Dogs tail, and one sheep’s ear.
